Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Believe it or not, I answered a lot of questions about myself, and an early computer program spewed out “dietitian.” I had no idea what a dietitian was. Then I shadowed a dietitian at a local hospital where my mom was a nurse and I decided it was a perfect career for me. There have been no regrets. I have been privileged to help people improve their health through the power of food for more than 35 years. Food is medicine!
What I want my patients to know about me:
I will try to meet you where you are. That is, I will try to get to know you as a person first. I will find out about your typical day, your food likes and dislikes and about your own personal health goals. After providing some education, I will encourage you to begin working on at least one goal - big or small - to improve your diet and ultimately your health and quality of life. In most cases, I will promote real food, affordable food, and easy-to-prepare foods.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I am spending time with my growing family. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, inviting friends for dinner, swimming and playing golf. I am active in a local church.
