Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I was interested in a career in which I could serve others. After a heavy load of science in college, I decided against an academic career. As I looked at some of the medical specialties I was impressed that a "new" (in 1975) specialty in family practice was available. That became my goal.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I have been happily married for over 40 years and have two daughters and a granddaughter. I think relationships are the most important aspect of life.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I like to walk and hike and still do a little running. Taking our beagle along is a daily activity. I am active in my church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. I like to grow a few vegetables in a small garden every year. My wife and I enjoy traveling to a variety of places.
