Expert Care for You and Your BabysubHeadH2 accessibility
At WellSpan Maternal-Fetal Medicine, our fellowship-trained physicians and advance practice clinicians provide care for women with both normal and complicated pregnancies, such as multiples pregnancies, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, advanced maternal age, and other risk factors. We work closely with your OB/GYN to ensure that your pregnancy is as safe and stress-free as possible. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists collaborate with your OB/GYN, who delivers the baby.
Unlike some other practices who only treat pregnant women with a limited number of complications or conditions, we are a comprehensive maternal-fetal medicine team that includes diabetes education and genetic counseling right here in our office. Many of our maternal-fetal medicine physicians are also surgeons. This means that they not only specialize in diagnosing complex maternal and fetal conditions, but they also perform many types of surgical treatments. We offer our services in five offices across the south central Pennsylvania area, so we’re sure to have a location that’s convenient for you.
We coordinate your care with a variety of other specialty providers at WellSpan, including behavioral health, neonatology, and social services.
When you see our specialists for your care, you can be confident that you’ll receive the expertise that other maternal-fetal specialists look to for their knowledge and experience. Our physicians have written materials for national organizations and actively participate in research. We are also committed to educating the rising generation of maternal-fetal medicine specialists through our involvement with education and research.

How We Can Help
Pre-Conception Counseling
If you are thinking about having a baby but have questions or concerns due to you, your partner’s, or your family’s medical history, we are here to help you better understand your path forward to pregnancy.
Perinatology Consultations
We offer perinatology consultations for women who have been identified by their obstetrician with a condition associated with high-risk pregnancy. We use a variety of testing methods to better understand the health of your developing baby. These include ultrasound, non-stress tests, genetic counseling, and other prenatal diagnostic and screening tests. Our experts can identify your risk for pre-term delivery, including cervical length screening.
Board-Certified Specialty Sonographers
Our board-certified, specially trained sonographers perform specialized ultrasounds, including fetal echocardiography. While many sonographers can perform prenatal ultrasounds, the highly technical training that WellSpan Maternal-Fetal Medicine sonographers receive equips them to obtain the very best images of your developing baby so your maternal-fetal medicine team can make the most accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for you.
Diabetes Management
Whether you have pre-pregnancy diabetes or diabetes that developed during your pregnancy (gestational diabetes), our expert team is here to help monitor and manage the condition and any related risks to you and your baby. We provide diabetes counseling and management services to women throughout their pregnancy.
Teleconference Services for Virtual Visits
We offer teleconference services to our patients, which allows you to see a provider at any of our five office locations. We use secure, state-of-the-art video conferencing with online interpreting in 200 languages.Appointments that can be done in this way include physician appointments, genetic counseling and diabetes education services.
Substance Abuse Management
We have developed a substance abuse management program to help the babies of drug- and alcohol-dependent women to develop as safely as possible. We offer support to women with substance abuse issues, and provide resources for safely quitting these substances for the health of themselves and their babies.
Intrauterine Procedures
Our team is experienced in performing a number of procedures, including amniocentesis, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, chorionic villus sampling, fetal intrauterine transfusion, fetal bladder drainage, and fetal intramuscular injection. In conjunction with Johns Hopkins surgeons, we offer limited fetal surgery at WellSpan York Hospital.
