Coffee Shop
For the convenience of family members, light meals and refreshments are available in the Coffee Shop located in the main lobby.

Vending Area
Vending machines, accessible 24 hours a day for snacks and beverages, are located in the emergency department waiting area and on the ground floor.

Operated by the Chambersburg Area Hospital Auxiliary, The Gift Shop offers a great selection of balloons, cards, collectibles, jewelry, fresh flowers, plants, baby gifts, toys, seasonal gifts, inspirational gifts, candles and stationary.

Gift Shop Hours:
Monday–Friday: 10 am - 7 pm
Saturday : 12 pm - 3 pm
Sunday: 1 - 4 pm

Our hospital volunteers are available to get items from the Gift Shop and Coffee Shop for you. This service is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm by calling (717) 267-3000 ext.1213.

Free wireless connection and access to the internet via your smart phones, tablets and laptops.

To protect the safety of our patients, wireless devices should be turned off while you're in the following areas:

  • Cardiac catheterization lab on the 1st floor
  • MRI area on the ground floor
  • Operating room (OR) on the 1st floor

If you're uncertain, please speak with a nurse to find out if wireless devices are permitted in your area of the hospital.

Waiting areas are located on each floor.

An interfaith chapel, open 24 hours-a-day, is located on the first floor by the main lobby.

You may request a visit from our chaplain by calling (717) 267-3000 ext. 7749 or by asking your nurse. Our chaplain’s office can also contact your local clergy if you’d like. A chaplain is on call 24-hours-a-day.

We will make every effort to provide interpreters for those patients who do not speak English. For information, call Social Services at (717) 267-7156.

During your visit, eat a meal with your friend or family member during their stay. For a small charge, friends and family members can ask a nurse to request a guest tray.

Personal items found on hospital property are kept in a safe, secure place until they are claimed, up to one month. To inquire about a lost item, please ask your nurse to check with lost and found.

Courtesy phones are available for use in the main lobby. TDD is available at the cashier's desk.

CMS 5 Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have ranked WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital as 5 Stars for Overall Hospital Quality. The overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings apply across the country based on each hospitals performance across five quality categories including: mortality, safety or care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.

Leapfrog 'A' Grade Designation

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps forward in the quality and safety of American health care. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has earned the highest designation of an 'A' grade.

High Performing by U.S. News and World Report

WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has met or exceeded the criteria to be designated a high performing provider for 2023-2024 in the treatment of diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, stroke. The annual Best Hospitals ranking evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Rankings are largely based on objective measures like volume, discharge-to-home rates, and quality of nursing.

Get with the Guidelines

For 2023, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has achieved the following from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) awards:

  • Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and recognized on the Target: Heart Failure and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
  • Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and recognized on the Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

The GWTG awards recognize the hospital meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and heart-care-related patients.

Money Best Maternity Hospital

In 2022, Money, a personal finance website, partnered with The Leapfrog Group to develop the first Best Maternity Hospital ranking. WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital was ranked among the best maternity hospitals in America, according to Money. Money and The Leapfrog Group used maternity care data from the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey to compile the list of best hospitals. To qualify for the list, eligible hospitals were required to carry an "A" or "B" letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for spring 2022 and meet criteria specific to providing maternity care.

Gold Level Safe Sleep Facility

WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital is recognized as a Gold Level Safe Sleep facility for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep.  As a nationally certified Safe Sleep Hospital, the hospital is recognized by Cribs for Kids for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and for providing training programs for healthcare team members and family caregivers.

Keystone 10 Facility

WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital is designated as a Keystone 10 facility, for implementing evidence-based maternity care practices to help improve breastfeeding care and rates, as well as improving the health of new mothers and babies. Keystone 10, administered by the Pa. Department of Health and the Pa. Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a quality improvement breastfeeding initiative that began in 2014. It is aimed at improving the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania infants, mothers and families.

In 2021, WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital was recognized by DNV as an Accredited Hospital. The accreditation integrates ISO 9001 with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and focuses on addressing the continuum of care and a commitment to quality and safety.
