NOTE: The Cherry Tree Cancer Center in Hanover, a joint venture of WellSpan and UPMC Hanover, will close effective Dec. 31, 2020. UPMC and WellSpan are committed to ensuring that Cherry Tree Cancer Center patients complete their treatments uninterrupted prior to the closure. Both organizations will continue to meet our community’s cancer care needs at locations in Hanover and surrounding communities.
Cherry Tree Cancer Center was created in 1998 as a collaborative venture between WellSpan Health and UPMC Pinnacle Hanover (formerly Hanover Hospital) and in order to bring high quality radiation therapy services to the Hanover area. In order to provide the best cancer treatment available, the linear accelerator equipment has recently been upgraded with the most advanced technology available. Support services and enrollment in National Cancer Institute clinical trials are available to patients at this center as well. This center is also accredited by the American College of Radiology, and all physicians are board certified.
This facility, along with WellSpan’s other cancer centers located in Gettysburg, York, Ephrata and Lebanon, now collaborates with the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. This collaboration brings additional resources to cancer patients in the area, such as access to expanded clinical trials, second opinions and referrals to Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center for complex cases.
