WellSpan Health has announced the acquisition of an ownership stake in the Parkway Surgery Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
“Becoming a part owner in the Parkway Surgery Center increases access to advanced services in northern Maryland for our WellSpan Health patients and strengthens our continuum of care,” said Dr. Anthony Aquilina, executive vice president and chief physician executive, WellSpan Health; president, WellSpan Medical Group. “As a trusted partner in our communities we’re always improving local access and convenience so our patients can receive the care they need locally.”
In 2021, Parkway Neuroscience and Spine Institute, based in Hagerstown, Md., joined WellSpan Health with offices in Chambersburg and Frederick in addition to Hagerstown. Neurosurgeons and interventional pain physicians from this group currently perform a variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments and procedures at Parkway Surgery Center to manage or eliminate conditions including pain and inflammation, pinched nerves, ruptured discs, bone spurs, joint and spine pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and nerve entrapment.
The agreement was completed on July 15 and the name of the center changed to WellSpan Parkway Surgery Center. The center will continue to operate under similar hours.
