The America’s Best Hospitals streak continues for WellSpan Chambersburg and WellSpan York Hospitals. It's the third year in a row that WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has been named as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, an online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. WellSpan York Hospital makes the list of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, marking three years in a row attaining that achievement.
“Having WellSpan York and WellSpan Chambersburg Hospitals being named as two of the top hospitals in the country by Healthgrades is a testament to the dedication our team of physicians, surgeons and healthcare professionals have toward providing the highest-quality specialty care for our patients,” said Dr. Michael Seim, senior vice president and chief quality officer at WellSpan Health. “We hope the residents of South Central Pennsylvania can view this recognition as yet another example of the quality of care they will receive at all of our WellSpan hospitals.”
The top-100 recognition puts WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital in the top 2% of hospitals in the country for overall clinical performance among the most common conditions and procedures. For WellSpan York Hospital, it’s the top 5%. It’s important to note that WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital has also been recognized in the America’s 250 Best Hospitals list for seven years in a row, dating back to 2017.
Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals.

In addition, five WellSpan hospitals received numerous 2023 Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards that were announced last year. The awards recognize hospitals that deliver superior patient outcomes across the most common in-hospital procedures and conditions, including surgical care, critical care, cardiac care, surgery, gastrointestinal care and surgery, and bariatric surgery.
