Here's what you need to know about baby formula recall

Abbott is initiating a voluntary recall of certain lots of 2-fluid-ounce bottles of ready-to-feed liquid Similac products and Pedialyte products. These products are being recalled because a small percentage of the bottles may not have sealed completely, which could result in spoiled product. Should an infant consume spoiled product, they could experience diarrhea and vomiting.

Here is the list of affected products:

  • Similac Pro-Total Comfort
  • Similac 360 Total Care
  • Similac 360 Total Care Sensitive
  • Similac Special Care 24
  • Similac Stage 1
  • Similac Water (Sterilized)
  • Similac NeoSure
  • Pedialyte Electrolyte Solution

If any of the above liquid products have been purchased, it is recommended that all lot numbers be checked to see if they fall on the affected list. Lot numbers can be found printed on the bottom of the 2-fluid-ounce bottle, on the side of the label on the bottle, on the bottom of the carton, or on the outer case.

If the product lot number is not found on the list, no action is needed, and infants can continue to drink it. If the lot number is found on the affected list, immediately discontinue the use of the product and contact Abbott customer services for further instructions at 1-800-986-8540 in the United States and at 1-787-622-5454 in Puerto Rico.

This recall does not include any powdered formula brands, amino acid based, or metabolic deficiency nutrition formulas. Click here for more information.
