• WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital is committed to ensuring the highest quality care for our most vulnerable children; we continue to treat children and multiple levels of pediatric care will continue to be offered at the hospital.
• We will continue to offer the same, exceptional Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), orthopedic, and surgical care for children at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
• Our Level II NICU services remain the same, continuing to provide a high level of care for mothers and newborns – including a facility fully equipped and prepared to deliver babies as early as 32 weeks and treat mothers with unexpected medical complications. Only when these pediatric patients require a higher level of care may a transfer to another facility be required.
• Our continuum of pediatric care extends throughout our communities in Franklin County. We are committed to ensuring quality and timely care for children in an outpatient setting – through our WellSpan family medicine practices and urgent care locations, as well as through pediatric locations as part of our network of care.

• Inpatient services:
  • We continue to admit pediatric patients to the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital inpatient pediatric unit under the attending surgeon's care.
• Emergency Department services:
  • WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital physicians continue to treat and monitor lower acuity pediatric illness in the emergency department, such as dehydration, acute asthma exacerbations, broken bones, and croup. In the last year, our emergency department cared for more than 9,100 pediatric patient encounters, which may include patients with multiple care visits.
  • Additional pediatric support is provided by our WellSpan York Hospital pediatric hospitalist group – a dedicated group of physicians and advanced practice providers trained to treat pediatric patients – via virtual health consultation.
• Newborn services:
  • Newborn nursery coverage is provided by WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital Neonatology for newborns who are not yet assigned a pediatrician.
  • The physicians with Keystone Health Pediatrics and WellSpan Family Medicine continue to provide newborn nursery coverage for infants who will be seen by a Keystone Health or WellSpan provider following discharge from the hospital – consistent with their current service.
• With our lower pediatric volumes at times, we have provided our pediatric nursing workforce with cross-training opportunities to further their development in other areas of the hospital.

As part of our commitment to transforming the health of the communities while educating the next generation of providers, we are expanding our medical residency programs across the regions we serve in South Central Pennsylvania – starting with WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital's recent approval to launch a family medicine residency program. The Franklin County-based program is set to welcome its first medical residents in 2025, with medical residents to participate in clinical rotations with Keystone Health physicians and providers at both WellSpan Health and Keystone Health care locations.

• WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital is a recipient of the U.S. News & World Report High Performing recognition for 2023-24 – earning high-performing recognition for diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, and stroke care.
• WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital is one of three WellSpan hospitals to have received the U.S. News (USN) Best Hospitals for Maternity 2024 award – an achievement which indicates performance that is well above average on a range of objective quality measures including low newborn complication rates and Cesarean-section births. Only 311 of the 680 hospitals who submitted maternity data to USN earned this rating.
