Security enhancements at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital begin October 1
Welcome to WellSpan, where the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and team members is our highest priority.
Hospitals are meant to be a safe and healing environment. At WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital, we are committed to ensuring a safe care experience through the following enhanced security measures:
Upon arrival
- Visitors must use designated Main or Emergency entrances to our hospital.
- WellSpan Emergency Departments remain accessible 24/7.
- Individuals with questions about access to a specific location are advised to contact that facility directly. See information on our hospital locations pages.
Entering and traveling within WellSpan hospitals
- Guns, knives and other weapons are banned.
- Weapons detection screenings will be completed for all visitors at designated hospital entrances.
- All visitors must provide photo identification upon entry.
- Visitors will be provided and must wear a personalized visitor badge while on our premises.
Tell security if you have a condition that needs special screening.

Security enhancements begin June 23
The safety and security of our patients, visitors, and team members is our highest priority. We have implemented enhanced security measures across WellSpan campuses and facilities. We are now requiring visitors to wear personalized visitor ID badges while on our hospital campuses. WellSpan visitors will be provided a personalized visitor ID badge upon arrival. Please bring a photo identification to check in.
Maternity services
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital provides a homelike Maternity Center and special programs and services to help families get off to a good start.

Amenities and guest services
Snack Bar
A Snack Bar located on the first floor in the main lobby serves meals and light refreshments to visitors and patients.
Hours of operation:
Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Please note that due to possible dietary restrictions, menu items from the cafeteria cannot be purchased for patients.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located on the hospital's ground floor.
Hours of operation:
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Salad bar, deli bar and grab-n-go items are available from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please note that due to possible dietary restrictions, menu items from the cafeteria cannot be purchased for patients.
Vending Areas
A vending machine room, located on the first floor at the corner of the B1 and Diagnostic Testing hallways, is available 24-hours-a-day for beverages and snacks. Another vending room is located on the ground floor to the right of the cafeteria entrance.
The WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital Hospitality Shop features a fine selection of cards, gifts and magazines and is located on the first floor in the main lobby. It is operated by the Gettysburg Hospital Auxiliary.

Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Can't get in to visit a friend or family member in the hospital in person? Send some words of cheer or encouragement to a friend or loved one in the hospital. WellSpan eGreetings are a free service and available for patients at WellSpan Hospitals.
Complementary wireless internet service (also known as WiFi) is available in patient rooms and in many areas throughout the hospital. Please note that laptop computers should not be used within two feet of electronic patient care equipment for safety reasons.
Television
Remote-controlled color television is provided in every patient room as a free service and is complements of Gettysburg Hospital Foundation. We offer access to local channels and many of your favorite cable channels. We also encourage patients and their visitors to review our patient education channel, which provides important information designed to explain hospital programs and policies and to provide information to aid patients in their recovery.
Telephones
For your convenience, every patient room has a telephone. You may make local calls by dialing "8" then the number. For long distance calls dial "8-0," the area code and phone number. Please note that all long-distance calls must be made as collect calls or using a credit card.
A meditation room (chapel) is located on the second floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.
Pastoral Care at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is available at all times. A hospital staff chaplain is in-house Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, chaplains are available for emergencies at night and on the weekends.
A meditation room (chapel) is located on the second floor and is open for patients, visitors and staff.
The hospital maintains a current list of interpreters to ensure communications with those patients who do not speak or understand the English language. Spanish interpreters on staff are generally available in the hospital Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A phone service is also available for languages not covered by the interpreter list.
