Description:

Does your child struggle with a level one Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis and/ or ADHD? Do you notice your child having trouble while interacting with others? Does your child isolate due to not knowing how to socialize with other children? Many children can experience discomfort and difficulty in social settings. Luckily, there are many skills that can be used to improve the quality of their interactions with others and increase their ability to communicate. Social Skills is a group that uses discussions, role play, games, and other techniques to help your child learn necessary skills for a social setting. This group can also help foster generalization skills (the ability to use skills learned in group in a variety of situations outside of group). Group sessions will focus on:

  • Providing necessary social skills to targeted population
  • Discussions, role play, games, etc.
  • Different modalities to foster generalization skills

Group participants must be ages 10 to 13 or 14 to 17. To ensure group appropriateness, new participants may be invited to meet with a group leader individually before starting group sessions. Participants must have an intake on file. Group participants should also be able to communicate effectively in a group format. The child must have a current diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder level 1, Anxiety, ADHD or OCD to be enrolled. Group members may not have active psychosis, active addiction or active suicide/homicide ideations.

Current Philhaven patients should talk to their provider. For new Philhaven patients, please call (717) 851-1375 or (800) 459-7497.
