WellSpan is honored to earn two "A" Hospital Safety Grades for spring 2026 from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers.
WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital and WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital both received the top rating, recognizing strong performance in patient safety and harm prevention.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a nationally recognized rating that assigns hospitals a grade of A through F based on measures tied to preventing errors, infections and other types of patient harm. Grades are published publicly, allowing patients and families to see how hospitals perform onsafety.
Because Leapfrog is independent and transparent, an A Safety Grade serves as an important external validation of patient safety practices, reinforcing trust and confidence in the care delivered at these hospitals.
In addition to earning an A Safety Grade this cycle, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital received Leapfrog’s Straight A designation. This distinction recognizes hospitals that have repeatedly achieved top safety performance over time and reflects a sustained commitment rather than short‑term improvement.
“Safety is built through consistency — the daily habits, teamwork and reliability that prevent harm and protect our patients,” said Tina Citro, vice president, WellSpan Health and president, WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. “We are proud this recognition reflects the commitment our team members bring to patient safety every day, and we remain focused on meeting that standard for every patient, every time.”
“This recognition reflects the way our teams show up for patients each day,” said Melissa A. Dubrow, vice president, WellSpan Health and president, WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital. “It reinforces that a steady, intentional focus on safety and reliability leads to outcomes patients and families can trust.”
Leapfrog’s spring 2026 grades provide an external perspective on patient safety, reinforcing the importance of consistent systems, accountability and teamwork in delivering safe, high‑quality care.
