Unlock summer fun by participating in the Get Outdoors (GO!) scavenger hunt, an engaging summer activity that combines fun, fitness, and learning across South Central Pennsylvania.
Grab an itinerary from your local library and get ready to explore local parks, uncover hidden posts, and collect mental wellness tips along the way.
Three fun facts about GO!:
- Extensive Participation: Last summer, the program saw enthusiastic participation from 10,872 youth across six counties.
- Impressive Mileage: Participants traveled a total of 39,126 miles in 2023, contributing to a cumulative mileage of 414,437 since the program's inception in 2008. That total distance is like walking to the moon and halfway back again, or going around the earth 17 times! If you did all the posts in six counties, you would walk approximately 100 miles.
- Reading and Engagement: The 2023 Summer Read program saw 31,213 registrants who collectively read for 8,369,884 minutes. That’s like reading around the clock for almost 16 years!
Lace up your sneakers and hit the trails in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, or York counties. Log your finds in the Beanstack app for a chance to win exciting prizes.
Now in its 17th year, the GO! program is a collaborative effort between WellSpan Health and local libraries, designed to encourage community members of all ages to explore the beauty of their local parks and trails while also engaging their minds.
