Event Image

Is stress having a direct cause on the amount of food you eat, or what you eat? Do you find yourself using food as a coping mechanism for the stress you are facing? The "Emotional Eating Group" can provide group members coping skills of how to handle the stress they are faced with. Group members will learn how habits are formed, how to change those habits and how to identify and manage emotions without using food. The group will also help individuals practice mindful eating and learn interpersonal effectiveness skills to help get their needs met without turning to food. Group sessions will focus on:

  • The brain’s reward system in conjunction with emotional eating
  • How habits are formed and changed
  • How to identify and manage emotions without using food
  • Motivation
  • Mindful eating
  • How to manage stress
  • Effective communication

Group members must be able to communicate effectively in a group format. Members cannot have active psychosis, active addiction or active suicidal or homicidal ideation.

Current Philhaven patients should talk to their provider. For new Philhaven patients, please call (717) 279-2760 or (800) 459-7497.
