Are you struggling to manage your child’s outbursts and tantrums? Would you identify your child as defiant? This skills-focused group is for parents who are struggling with a strong-willed child age 8 to 11. Children will attend group with their parents and must have a therapy intake within WellSpan Philhaven to qualify. Skills taught in this group will help parents in reducing their child’s challenging behaviors, such as arguing with adults, failing to follow directions, tantrums, meltdowns and blow-ups. Skills learned will also help increase positive parent-child activities and cooperation. Group sessions will focus on building skills including:

• Attending
• Positive reinforcement
• Ignoring/selective attention
• Effective directions
• Response cost
