Do you struggle with managing your mental health? Is your history of substance use interfering with how you process your emotions in your sobriety?  Within “Creating Acceptance, Peace & Stability" (CAPS) group, participants learn to discuss these concerns in a group setting that is safe, with the guidance of a therapist. Group will consist of others that share similar experiences with mental health and substance use in a judgement-free zone. Group will help to identify how to appropriately manage these processes.  While receiving aid for mental health, group will allow individuals to recognize the activities of completion that are necessary for daily living. Coping skills will be addressed throughout group, which could help to cope with stressors and symptoms. Group sessions will focus on:

  • Coping with multiple psychosocial stressors
  • Appropriately addressing health concerns
  • Dealing with symptoms such as hallucinations, panic attacks, sleep issues, chronic pain
  • Completing activities of daily living

Participants must be diagnosed with severe and/or chronic mental illness, must have a history of substance use disorder, and must currently be committed to sobriety. Interested participants must not have active psychosis, active addiction, or active SI/HI symptoms. The minimum time of sobriety is two months.

Current Philhaven patients should talk to their provider. For new Philhaven patients, please call (717) 851-1375 or (800) 459-7497.
