Managing Emotions: Skills from DBT for Teens - Isabel Drive

Event Image

Description

Do your parents tell you that you "go from 0 to 100?" Are your emotions "all over the place" and you don't understand why? Emotions are a beautiful, complex and necessary part of life. However, when we do not have skills to effectively engage our emotions, problems often ensue. These problems may be with how we think, how we react, how we relate to others, and how we behave. If you struggle in any of these areas, DBT skills could be helpful. DBT skills can help you understand yourself better, identify and practice tools to manage overwhelming emotions and make progress towards your goals. Group sessions will focus on:

  • Mindfulness
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness
  • Walking the Middle Path
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Emotion Regulation

Group members must be at least 12 and no older than 16 years old and must have the ability to communicate effectively in group format. Potential participants cannot have active psychosis, active addiction or active suicidal/homicidal thoughts.

Current Philhaven patients should talk to their provider. For new Philhaven patients, please call (717) 851-1375 or (800) 459-7497.
