WellSpan Health's Dr. P. Geoffrey Nicholson Jr., senior vice president and chief clinical officer of WellSpan Population Health, has been appointed to the 2023 board of directors for the National Association of ACOs. Dr. Nicholson will serve a three-year term on the board, among colleagues representing single-ACO organizations.

"Our innovative partnership with both physicians and payors to drive clinical innovation, improve care coordination, develop next-generation analytics, and redefine patient experience are all part of our effort to deliver real savings to our patients and communities."
ACOs, or Accountable Care Organizations, work to lower the cost of health care spending with groups of doctors, hospitals, and other providers coordinating care for patients. ACOs are incentivized to lower costs by spending less while maintaining or improving quality and the patient experience, earning the right to share generated savings.
The National Association of ACOs is a member-led and member-owned nonprofit of mor e than 400 ACOs collaborating to improve population health, enhance patient experience, reduce cost to patients and taxpayers, support care teams, and advance health care quality and equity.
