We strive to make every person feel welcomed, respected and valued by creating a safe and inclusive environment to which we all feel a sense of belonging. We’re equally committed to ensuring all team members can excel in their careers and are positioned for success through equitable policies, practices and resources.

Recruiting a diverse workforce

Our leaders use data and team member insights to develop purposeful strategies to attract and retain a representative workforce. In 2023, we launched the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Dashboard, giving our leaders a real-time view of organizational recruitment and retention progress toward community representation goals across identity attributes like age, gender and race.

Engaging with our communities

Throughout the year, we’re actively involved in community events that celebrate the wonderfully diverse communities we serve. By embracing and celebrating diversity, we are best positioned to address the barriers and challenges that fuel health disparities, promote health equity and deliver compassionate care that respects and honors the individuality of each person.

Inclusion champions foster belonging

WellSpan’s Inclusion Champion Program received an Outstanding Training Initiative Award from Training Magazine in 2023. Since the program’s inception in 2022, more than 300 WellSpan team members have completed training learning how to disrupt bias in themselves and others, host courageous conversations and advance a culture of belonging for each other and our patients.
