New Patients

How do I become a new patient?

To enroll as a new patient with WellSpan Online Primary Care, fill out the enrollment form or call (717) 812-4353. Patients must be 18+ years of age and enrolled in the WellSpan Standard or WellSpan Plus Insurance plans. In addition, patients must be in Pennsylvania or Maryland when receiving care from WellSpan Online Primary Care and will need to have a MyWellSpan account. To create a MyWellSpan account, visit www.MyWellSpan.org.

Can I enroll my spouse and/or child(ren)?

WellSpan Online Primary Care is available for employees, spouses and dependents (18+ years) who are enrolled in the WellSpan Standard or WellSpan Plus insurance plans. A separate enrollment form must be completed for a spouse and each dependent.

Will I still see my current primary care provider?

No. When you enroll as a new patient, you are electing WellSpan Online Primary Care as your primary care provider, replacing your current primary care provider.

What happens after I submit the online enrollment form?

A WellSpan Online Primary Care team member will contact you to help you complete the enrollment process and to answer any questions you may have. The team will review your medical information and ensure that your medical conditions can be well managed through an Online Primary Care practice model.

What technology do I need?

A WellSpan Online Primary Care team member will contact you to ensure your smartphone, tablet or personal computer is ready for an online video visit. You will also need to have at home a blood pressure monitor, a scale and a thermometer.

Do I pay a co-pay?

The primary care visit copay is determined by your insurance plan.  Preventive visits under WellSpan Health Plans currently have a $0 copay.

Appointments

How do I make an appointment?

As a patient of WellSpan Online Primary Care, simply visit www.MyWellSpan.org, log into your account and press the “WellSpan Online Primary Care” button. Follow the instructions to make an appointment. In addition to video visit appointments, WellSpan Online Primary Care can also address health concerns through secure messaging, access to health data and phone calls. WellSpan Online Primary Care will also coordinate in-person visits if and when they are needed.

How do I start my video visit appointment?

As a patient of WellSpan Online Primary Care, simply visit www.MyWellSpan.org, log into your account and press the “WellSpan Online Primary Care” button. Follow the instructions to start your video visit appointment.

Is there a WellSpan Online Primary Care office I can visit?

As a patient of WellSpan Online Primary Care, most of your visits and communications will occur online.  WellSpan Online Primary Care will coordinate in-person visits if and when they are needed.  When you enroll as a new patient, you are electing WellSpan Online Primary Care as your primary care provider, replacing your current primary care provider.

Can I always reach WellSpan Online Primary Care?

You can reach WellSpan Online Primary Care every day, at any time. Outside the normal operating hours: Mon-Thu: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Fri: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., you will reach the after-hours WellSpan Medical Call Center, which can assist you with any non-clinical issues, including scheduling a visit. An on-call nurse will also be available to assist with clinical questions. When necessary, the nurse may refer you to WellSpan Online Urgent Care for the following conditions:

  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Bronchitis
  • Cold & flu symptoms
  • Constipation and diarrhea
  • Coughs
  • Dizziness
  • Earaches
  • Fever
  • Headaches
  • Hives
  • Insect bites
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle strain
  • Nosebleeds
  • Pink eye
  • Poison ivy
  • Rashes
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Vomiting

Similar to other WellSpan medical practices, an on-call physician will be available to address critical issues, including lab results and imaging call reports.

What if I just have a non-urgent question for the WellSpan Online Primary Care doctor?

Secure messaging to your physician or advanced practice provider is available via your MyWellSpan account.

Will I get to know the WellSpan Online Primary Care doctors and advanced practice providers?

Yes. WellSpan Online Primary Care is made up of a dedicated health care team that looks forward to getting to know you and your family and helping you on your personal journey to get and stay healthy.

Is WellSpan Online Primary Care similar to an in-person office visit?

Yes. WellSpan Online Primary Care patients receive the same high quality, personal care as an in-person office visit. When you or a family member are sick and need to speak to a doctor, you will see and talk to a WellSpan Online Primary Care physician or advanced practice provider through a live, face-to-face online video visit. You can ask questions and discuss your health just as you would in an office visit. Additional contact regarding your personal care and wellness will include secure messaging, access to health data and phone calls. Each patient will have a personalized care plan. The practice providers will regularly review your personalized plan and reach out to you to ensure any needed bloodwork and testing is ordered and to see if you have any questions about your health. This proactive approach to care will allow our care teams and patients to work together to achieve the best outcomes.

How will the practice contact me when I am due for routine healthcare services?

The WellSpan Online Primary Care physician or nurse practitioner will review each patient’s medical record several times a year – no visit needed.  The review will allow the care team to identify and order any preventive service or disease-specific monitoring that is due and communicate results and care plans with patients. 

What if I need vaccines, lab work or imaging?

WellSpan Online Primary Care will coordinate in-person visits if and when they are needed.

What’s the difference between WellSpan Online Urgent Care and WellSpan Online Primary Care?
