United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step 1 Prep
Time is dedicated within the curriculum to allow students to focus on studying and intensive preparation for the USMLE Step 1 Exam.
Intersession Courses
These courses provide foundational information and skills to help students prepare for each group of Phase 2 clinical rotations.
Phase 2 Clinical Rotations
Students complete these rotations at WellSpan York Hospital, or one of the other WellSpan core clinical education sites around York.

Phase 3 Clinical Rotations

Doctoring Course
This longitudinal course starts very early in Phase 1 and focuses on core knowledge and skills for successful practice in the ever-changing world of medicine. The course includes basic interviewing and communication skills, history and physical examination skills, evidence-based medicine, bioethics, system-based practice, social determinants of health, bias in healthcare, patient safety and quality improvement, and many other key areas. Students will participate in regular simulation sessions and will work with standardized patient actors to improve and refine their communication and patient care skills.
Faculty-Mentored Scholarly Experience (FMSE)
This longitudinal course focuses on student learning and engagement in research or other scholarly activity.
