Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I come from a faith background that emphasizes service and helping others. I had great parents who really sacrificed for my brother and myself. They encouraged us to go to college and embark on a worthwhile career. Medicine is the ideal purpose driven calling. It enables me to help people daily on a personal basis.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am constantly trying to learn and better myself as a doctor. This includes not only medical knowledge but also the spiritual, emotional, and human attributes that can make the doctor more effective. I also try to get to know my patients; not only with respect to their medical issues, but also regarding their hobbies, interests, and vocations. Our ultimate goal is to heal and keep patients healthy: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We want each person to enjoy life and feel satisfaction with their purpose in life!
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My wife and I enjoy staying active in our church, as well as seeing our grown children, their spouses, and our grandson. We love outdoor activities including cycling, kayaking, hiking, camping, and going to the shore!
