Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
The interplay between the self, physiology, and human anatomy has always interested me. How people can exceed the normal limits in sports and athletics interested me after I wanted to be a doctor. This interplay is why I take a more holistic approach to medical problems and why I am interested in prevention and Exercise as Medicine for many different ailments. Rarely do people with the same problem respond the same to the same treatment. That is what makes me want to come to work and find out more after 25 years.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I have been doing Sports Medicine for 25 years. I am glad to come to York, PA, to teach junior doctors and help patients stay active. I am recognized by both national organizations for Sports Medicine (ACSM and AMSSM) as a Fellow (less than 5% of Sports Medicine doctors). I have the experience to
diagnose your problem and develop a treatment plan to help you recover from an injury or manage a chronic problem. Plus, I am qualified in musculoskeletal ultrasound and can do targeted injections and treatments when necessary.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy being active (currently have a 5-year streak of 10000 steps daily). I have transitioned from playing basketball and soccer to doing triathlons and duathlons. I hike regularly and with family or friends complete portions of the Appalachian Trail annually. I enjoy cooking and making bread for my spouse. We enjoy spending time together relaxing and listening to music or watching a movie in my relaxation times.
