Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
Nursing is an amazing blend of science and caring. The nursing model also focuses on looking at the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I started out as a volunteer EMT in college and a nursing assistant. I started my RN career on a med/surg floor and then a position in cardiology, which involved cardiology testing and Coumadin management. It was during this time that I worked with several awesome nurse practitioners. Working with them inspired me to go back to school and complete the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Millersville.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities like archery, camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, etc. with my family. I enjoy watching hockey and baseball. I especially enjoy our local York Revolutions! I also root for the Hershey Bears and Baltimore Orioles. Our garden at home gets a little bigger every year as well, and we enjoy preparing foods and sauces from what we've grown.
