Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
My mother was a nurse. She started as a medical surgery nurse then became a nurse manager in pediatrics and orthopedics and eventually a nurse practitioner. I saw firsthand all the good she did for people and how much she was respected by her coworkers and patients.
What I want my patients to know about me:
As one of the older physicians in our group, I have had the experience of being a patient many times, and my family members have been patients many times. I try to remind myself to look at the problem from the patient's point of view.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My "therapy" is walking and hiking, usually with my yellow Labrador retriever, Rocky. Anyplace is good, including the local parks, the rail trail and, when really lucky, the Poconos.
