Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
In college, I was a chemistry major and was initially going to get my PhD in chemistry. However, in my junior year, I realized that there was much less interaction with other people. I was fascinated by my biochemistry class and the human body and human physiology. That led me to the realization that medicine was the perfect combination of science and personal interactions. Even today, I realize that cardiology is the perfect job to be able to help people through science.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I want my patients to know that I am just like them. I consider myself a "blue collar" cardiologist.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I have a small farm and I enjoy taking care of my goats, chickens and other farm animals. I have four children ranging in age from 4 months to 18 years. We enjoy traveling and I also enjoy woodworking.
