Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
One of the primary reasons I chose medicine is to help people in their most difficult times. My experience spans different countries: from an urban center in India (Calcutta, where I graduated medical school and did my post-graduate residency in internal medicine at the University of Calcutta) to a small town in India (Jalpaiguri, where I was attending physician and head of the ICU in a community hospital) to a city in America (Scranton, PA, where I was a clinical fellow and professor) to now Ephrata and Lancaster. The best reward has always been the smile on my patient's face.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am passionate about taking care of my patients. The best part about my job is that I am able to make a difference to the lives of my patients during their most difficult times. I strongly believe compassionate care and empathy are integral components of treatment and hope that the bonds that I develop with my patients last a lifetime. I am the lead physician in the congestive heart failure clinic at the Center for Heart Care and I am board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, Cardiac Devices (CCDS, IBHRE), vascular ultrasound (RPVI), echocardiography (NBE) and nuclear cardiology (CBNC).
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I have an enduring interest in cardiovascular research and have published multiple research articles. I have authored chapters in peer-reviewed journals and cardiology textbooks. I also love spending time with my family and my daughter, and I love exploring nature.
