Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
One of the primary reasons behind choosing medicine as a career is to able to help people in their most difficult times. My experience with medicine spans 2 different countries; from major urban center in India (Calcutta, India - I graduated medical school and did my post-graduate residency in Internal medicine from University of Calcutta) to a small town in India (Jalpaiguri, where I was the ICU in charge and attending physician in a community hospital) to small town America (Scranton, PA) to Lancaster. The best reward has always been the smile on my patient's face.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am passionate about taking care of my patients and the best part about my job is that I am able to make a difference to the lives of my patients during their most difficult times. I strongly believe compassionate care and empathy are integral component of treatment and hope that bonds that I develop with my patients last a lifetime. I feel gratified that I am able to serve the community.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I have an enduring interest in cardiovascular research and have published multiple research articles. I've authored chapters in peer-reviewed journals and cardiology textbooks. I also love spending time with my family and my daughter, and I love exploring nature.
