Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I have always had a niche for helping others and providing compassionate care for the afflicted and ill. I started in nursing and decided to continue my education to become a nurse practitioner. This provides a solid bridge between the art of nursing and the science of medicine. "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
What I want my patients to know about me:
I have high standards for the care I provide to my patients. I treat the infants and families I care for as if they were my own. I utilize evidence-based medicine and nursing to provide the best care for my patients and their families. "I attribute my success to this— I never gave or took any excuse. " ~Florence Nightingale
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I am not caring for my patients, I am busy caring for my three girls and attending their sporting events. I enjoy cooking, exercising, participating in organized running races (including obstacle-type races), music, and traveling whenever possible. We enjoy going on cruises, and we enjoy Atlantic City and the nostalgia of the boardwalk. I am also currently a doctoral candidate for nursing practice at the University of Alabama with a focus on neonatal abstinence syndrome for my scholarly project.
