Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
As a young person with a rare connective tissue disorder, I appreciated the awesome care that I received from my primary care provider and my specialists. As I matured, I wanted to emulate the care I received to the next generation of patients. Family medicine was a natural fit because of the depth and breadth of medicine I could treat. Sports medicine is also very important to me, as it was through exercise that the quality of my life improved significantly.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am very passionate about the care I provide for my patients. I want every patient to be the best version of themselves as possible. I believe there is an "ATHLETE IN ALL OF US!" We just need to find the activity or venue to bring that out. I try to incorporate wellness, nutrition, and activity into most of the care of my patients, whether they are my family practice patients, my sports medicine patients, my college athletes or my Olympic athletes.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
For exercise, I enjoy working out, especially strength training, Olympic weightlifting, cardio-machines, hiking, cross-country skiing and long-distance swimming. During the summer, I enjoy spending time with my immediate and extended family on Cape Cod or boating on the Severn River of Maryland. In addition, you may catch me restoring my 1961 Willys truck and 1946 Willys Jeep, collecting coins or restoring antique firearms.
