Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I wanted to have the opportunity to help my patients be healthier. I chose family medicine because I love that it is "generational medicine." I can see all ages and build relationships over time. I especially love pediatrics, women's health and obstetrics. My deciding factor to enter medicine was that my father had a health crisis, and watching the team of doctors that cared for him made me want to do something to help other people facing day-to-day health crises.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I enjoy the one-on-one encounters (or sometimes multiple family members) that family medicine has to offer. I enjoy that I have the opportunity to build a trusting relationship over time. I particularly enjoy pediatrics with the challenges and joys (education, helping parents through developmental stages and helping to keep kids healthy). I enjoy women's health with particular interest in obstetrics, infertility and helping women in menopause (education, support and helping point them in the right places if needed).
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy time with my husband and son. I am a mom who is guilty a lot of times of being "too proud" of my son and talking about him way too much. I am very involved in my church and enjoy playing the piano and singing. We enjoy camping (have a seasonal camp site) and enjoy other adventures together as a family. I enjoy reading, and nothing is quite like quiet time with a good book and a cup of coffee!
