Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I chose a career in medicine because I always liked caring for people. I started working with the elderly while I was in high school. I really enjoyed getting to know them and hearing all of their interesting stories. After about a year working in a hospital as an RN, I had the opportunity to care for residents in a skilled nursing facility. I immediately knew that caring for the geriatric population was my passion. From there, I continued working in skilled nursing facilities in different roles including bedside nursing and management. I always loved the clinical piece of nursing and knew that it was time to go back to college and pursue my master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner. I love to learn and in medicine there is always something new to learn.
What I want my patients to know about me:
Although born in Pennsylvania, I lived most of my life in southern New Jersey. My family and I moved to Lancaster County almost 6 years ago. I really appreciate the culture of Lancaster County including the friendly people, wonderful outdoor scenery, and the amazing food. I consider myself fortunate to provide medical care to the geriatric population. I look forward to providing medical care to my patients while getting to know them personally to provide them with the best care possible.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I love to take road trips with my family. We have driven to at least 26 states so far. During our road trips, we like to visit local eateries and taste all the different foods available and visit any interesting local spots along the way. My favorite state that I visited so far would be Maine. While not traveling, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family including my 2 Saint Bernards.
