Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Originally an engineering student, I discovered I did not want to study science in isolation. I enjoyed the intersection between science and human relationships. I saw pursuing a career in medicine as an opportunity not only to care for individuals from a physical health perspective but also emotionally and spiritually. As a family medicine physician I have the amazing opportunity to develop relationships with patients and provide care for the entire family unit.
What I want my patients to know about me:
During my undergraduate training I spent a semester in New York City studying medicine and the intersection of many cultures and languages. I saw first hand how language proficiency, particularly in Spanish, improved the healthcare provided to Spanish speaking patients. After two years of medical school I traveled to Argentina and Mexico and spent a year learning Spanish and serving in medical missions.
I went to residency in Wichita Kansas to a family medicine program with an emphasis on obstetrics and inpatient medicine. I am going to continue to provide obstetrical care with the family medicine residency at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. We enjoy being outdoors - hiking, camping, swimming. I am quite active and enjoy running, swimming and some biking. My faith in God is very important to me and I enjoy spending time with my church family and serving God in the community.
