Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a doctor. I loved reading my Mom's nursing textbooks as a little girl, reading about medical history—it all fascinated me. In college, I learned about a brand new profession, physician assistant, which allowed me to be learning clinical medicine and caring for patients sooner than if I were to attend medical school. That was 41 wonderful years ago, and I'm proud to have been a pioneer in such a rewarding field of medicine.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I love my work. Family medicine is so rewarding. I get to care for folks through all phases of their lives, and can appreciate the impact one family member's problem has on the rest of his family. The long relationships I've established with my patients are a joy! I enjoy helping my patients learn about their bodies; how to keep them healthy and strong, and how to care for themselves when they aren't.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Any time I can spend with my husband and two adult children is time well spent. I enjoy equestrian sports of all kinds—riding (although I no longer compete), watching jumping events, improving my own horsemanship. I also know my way around a kitchen and like to cook.
