Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I've always felt that being an athlete while growing up helped me grow as a person. I learned dedication and perseverance, and that helped me do well in school and in life. I know that when I'm physically active I'm happier and healthier. I chose to pursue Family Medicine and Sports Medicine in order to contribute and share that experience with my patients. I'm interested in using Exercise is Medicine (a program co-launched by the American Medical Association and American College of Sports Medicine) and physical activity to promote the overall health and wellness in all of my patients.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I look forward to working with you to help get you back on the playing field, back out in the garden, or to cut down on your blood pressure medications. I believe that health and wellness begin with prevention, as well as with your own specific needs and goals. I spent many years as a team physician for Division I universities. Working with high-level college athletes taught me to be creative and listen to the many different things that could be impacting an athlete, from sport performance to school work to family stressors. I take a "whole-person" approach to caring for my patients.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy working out, playing sports, travel and reading.
