Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
Ever since I can remember, I've engaged in opportunities where I could make differences in people's lives through listening, lending a helping hand, or volunteering. When it came time for me to choose a career, becoming a registered nurse (RN) seemed to be the obvious choice. After becoming an RN, I worked in maternity where I fell in love with taking care of women and their families through pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. As a certified nurse midwife (CNM), I care for women throughout their entire lifespan, and I consider this one of the highest honors there is.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I love being a CNM. I appreciate the fact that women trust me to care for them for routine gynecology appointments, pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. I understand that any of these kinds of visits can be very personal or open up a vulnerability that hasn't been open before. I am here to help you and for us to work together so that you can receive the best possible care. We work as a team to get you what you need. I remain up-to-date with current evidence-based guidelines, and I will share that knowledge with you so you can make decisions about your health care.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children. They brighten my life with love, laughter, and excitement. Whenever possible, I like to be out in nature to hike, swim, bike, camp, or any other activity that will get me outdoors. And, of course, I like to fit in some relaxation time, too, with bubble baths, Netflix, or reading a good book.
