Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I’ve wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. My interests increased during college when I worked as an EMT. I not only applied basic first aid and CPR, but also assisted victims of motor vehicle accidents, treated heart attack patients, and witnessed for the first time a baby being born. Once I entered medical school, I quickly became fascinated with the functions of the brain and brain recovery — I had found my passion. It has been exciting to see the field of brain injury medicine and stroke grow so much in the last 20 years leading to new treatments and interventions.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My work is rewarding, but more importantly I am reminded every day never to underestimate the resilience of the human spirit. As I continue my work in the field of brain injury, my goal is to help WellSpan build a successful program to help brain injury survivors obtain the care they need — not only for immediate acute care, but also for reintegration back into the community, work or school.
