Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I have always had an interest in science, but did not decide to work in medicine until I was in college. While at Georgetown, I joined our collegiate Emergency Medical Services organization as a volunteer EMT. I thought it would be a great way to learn and give back to the community. Ultimately, my love of that work was what encouraged me to pursue a career in medicine, as well as inspiration from my mother who is a great Nurse Practitioner.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am passionate about Evidence Based Practice. I enjoy reading and staying up to date on the best practices for my specialty, which helps me provide the best care I can to my patients. I also enjoy collaborating with my Supervising Physician, and appreciate being able to look to him for advice in difficult cases as needed.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
On my days off, I enjoy gardening, hiking, and foraging for wild foods. I cook elaborate meals for my family, and love preserving foods for the off season. Having a background in art, I quilt, do hand embroidery, and design fabrics from my paintings, photographs, and linocut prints. My dog participates in many of these activities too!
