Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:
I have always loved the life sciences. It was a high school zoology class that first introduced me to human anatomy, and after that I was hooked. After undergrad at PSU, I combined both studies and started a career in medical research. I thoroughly enjoyed my time doing this, however, being in a lab most of the day can get pretty lonely. I missed interacting with people (probably from being a waitress throughout high school and college). So that is when I decided being a PA would be the best of both worlds.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I absolutely love working in family medicine. I like to take the time to get to know each patient. I want office visits to be open and comfortable so that we come to the best treatment plan for each person. I do not buy into the "one-size-fits-all" treatment plan. I want this to be joint effort.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Like most, I am a busy mom. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons. We love being outdoors hiking, camping, four wheeling or just playing with toys in the backyard. I look forward to going back to the beach in Maryland when then the boys are a little older. I don't get much down time, but it's always nice to sneak in a Steelers or PSU football game or head out to the local minor league ball park!
