Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
After experiencing an injury as a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle in my early 20s, I was really touched by the care I received in the healthcare setting. I was especially moved by the nurses who helped me, and it inspired me to go into the field of healthcare. I wanted to be that person who made a positive difference in the lives of others the way my own life was affected after being injured.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I’ve been in the field of nursing since 2005, specializing in critically ill medical-surgical and neurological patients. I've also worked in post-acute care services, where I worked with chronically ill patients in the community. My goals are to identify your surgical needs, connect with you the right specialties and therapies if surgery is not indicated, AND improve your healthcare experience by listening to your concerns and partnering with you to determine the best plan of care. I am originally from York County and feel privileged to serve in the community where I grew up.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When I'm not seeing patients, I really enjoy the chance to spend time with my family. We love watching movies, especially sci-fi and suspense films, and I love to listen to music (people are sometimes surprised by my musical tastes). I'm an avid reader though it's difficult to find the free time. Our two rescue dogs Fern and Benny add warmth and silliness to our household.
