Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
Initially my interest in medicine was fueled by my own personal experiences with allergies, and the long-term relationship with my allergist, who was a fantastic example of an intelligent and dedicated physician, and a great mentor to my own career choices. My mother’s subsequent diagnosis with a chronic disease, and her lifelong story, as well as my own personal experience in a life-threatening auto accident and subsequent prolonged recovery and rehabilitation solidified my desire to pursue medicine as both a passion and vocation.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My value to your care comes from my ability to manage complex maternal and/or fetal conditions. Meaning, if you have any medical problems yourself, or your baby’s ultrasound is not completely normal, then I want to be a part of your obstetrical team. I excel at the interpretation and use of ultrasound – our machines are not better – it is our years of advanced training and expertise that add value to your obstetrical team. I strive to explain and translate the complex into the easy to understand, and advocate for what is best for you and your family.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
I sing – I am trained in classical opera, studied under the late Roberta Knie, and have performed on 3 continents. I manage a 50 plus acre farm in southern York county. My family and I live with and support my grandmother in her quest to age in place in our home. I am a US licensed soccer coach, and coach as well as serve on the board of directors of my local soccer club. I volunteer in my children’s school – they are 4th generation students in the school district.
