Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
After graduating from college, I worked as a medical technologist in a hospital lab. I had the opportunity to see patients when I went out to the floor to draw blood, and soon realized how much I enjoyed my time spent with them. I looked into opportunities that would allow me to move into direct patient care, and felt the Physician Assistant profession was just right for me. 38 years later, I have never regretted that career change.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I am a strong believer in the connection between mind and body when it comes to wellness and also in the power that our lifestyle choices play in our health. In addition to the wonderful things that modern medicine has to offer, a good diet, regular exercise, good quality sleep and managing our stress are crucial to our overall well-being.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My husband and I enjoy all things handcrafted. We go to the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina every year to immerse ourselves in learning handmade crafts. I enjoy making soap, skin care products and candles. I am taking sewing lessons and do a little knitting. We also love animals. We have a dog and used to volunteer at the Humane League.
