Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
After graduating from college, I worked as a medical technologist in a hospital lab. I did have the opportunity to see patients when I went out to the floor to draw blood, and soon realized how much I enjoyed my time spent with them. I looked into opportunities that would allow me to move into direct patient care, and felt the Physician Assistant profession was just right for me. Almost 37 years later, I have never regretted that career change.
What I want my patients to know about me:
My areas of special interest are sleep and insomnia. I am a strong believer in the connection between mind and body when it comes to wellness. In addition to the wonderful things that modern medicine has to offer, a good diet, regular exercise, good quality sleep and managing our stress are crucial to our overall well-being.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
My husband and I enjoy all things handcrafted. We go to the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina every year to immerse ourselves in learning handmade crafts. I enjoy making soap and skin care products. I also make jewelry. We also love animals. We have a dog and volunteer at the Humane League.
