Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
I chose a career in medicine to bring compassionate care to a population of people who may feel that they are at their most vulnerable point in their life. I am passionate about cancer care and bringing new and innovative ideas to my patients.
What I want my patients to know about me:
I was born in Accra, Ghana and moved to the United States in 1993. I initially moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and I have since lived in six states. This has taught me a great lesson in adaptability and resilience. I was granted the opportunity to pursue a MD/PhD combined degree at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine and completed my radiation oncology training at the Duke University Cancer Center. The opportunity to work with cancer patients is a tremendous privilege with rewards and life lessons beyond my wildest childhood dreams.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
Outside of cancer care, I enjoy time with my growing family, which includes my wife, an excellent obstetrics and gynecology physician, and my young son. I also enjoy reading, music, sports (both playing and watching), exercising and traveling, mentoring and community service.
