Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine:
What could be better than a job that combines service to others with the challenge of lifelong learning about the amazing workings of the human body?
What I want my patients to know about me:
Everyone wants a good doctor. Patients can quickly tell if they feel comfortable with a physician. It is harder for them to determine if their doctor is also highly skilled and on top of their patient's medical issues. I teach medical residents the importance of being compulsive in their care, and I often make the following analogy: The difference between a good chef and a master chef is not necessarily if they can make a very good meal, but whether they make a very good meal every single time they cook. Please know I remain committed to providing the highest quality care each time we meet.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients:
When not seeing patients, I enjoy road biking, photography, coaching youth sports and reading. One of my favorite activities is going up to Maine every few years to work with furniture artisans and learn some new fine woodworking techniques. I also very much enjoyed coaching my daughter's youth soccer team for 10 years, eventually taking them to the U17 PA State Cup finals. Now that my youngest is off to college I am relegated to sports photography of her club soccer team.... still a lot of fun!
