How We Can Help

Our trauma specialists offer expert care in a compassionate environment, respectful of your needs. They provide a full range of general surgical services which include, but are not limited to:

Complex medical conditions

Complex medical conditions may require extra care or surgery as you navigate your treatment plan. Our physicians are experts at understanding the entirety of every situation and treating each patient comprehensively.

Gallbladder disease

Cholecystitis and gallstones are both gallbladder diseases that require surgery or intervention. Our experts can treat many gallbladder conditions quickly and with care.

Hernia

Our trauma specialists are experts at treating hernias through surgery. When an emergency hernia arises trust our team to help you get back to every day life.

General Surgery

Regardless of your health concern if surgery is required our team can treat you swiftly. We take pride in our care and will walk you though the process and provide education along the way.

Appendectomy

When appendicitis causes your appendix to become infected and inflamed you will need an appendectomy (removal of the appendix). There are several different types of appendectomies. Your physician will discuss what is best for you.

Splenectomy

If trauma is incurred by the spleen or it is removing too many red blood cells, then a splenectomy may be performed to remove the spleen. Care post-op is important with this procedure as your spleen helps fight against infection.

Colonic Resections

Removal of a portion of the colon may help with blockage or other bowel diseases. There are many reasons as to why this surgery would be performed and your physician will cover all the details and educate as needed.

WellSpan York Hospital – Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center

WellSpan York Hospital has been designated a regional trauma center since 1986 and achieved its first Level 1 accreditation—the highest level possible—in 2009. And the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation reaccredited the center in August 2018. To attain Level 1 accreditation, hospitals must provide multidisciplinary treatment and specialized resources for trauma patients, trauma research, a surgical residency program and an annual volume of 600 major trauma patients per year. York Hospital treated 2,200 trauma patients in 2016.
