How We Can Help
WellSpan offers alternative and complementary medicine services that are safe, relaxing, and proven to be effective.
Massage Therapy and Energy Work
Relaxation massage
Relaxation massage offers gentle techniques to reduce stress, soothe muscular tension, and promote overall wellness.
Therapeutic massage
Therapeutic massage focuses on releasing muscle spasms, strengthening or stretching injured muscles and reducing pain. This can include trigger point and deep tissue work.
Prenatal massage
Prenatal massage is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the expectant mother. Reduces stress, aides with muscle aches and pains, and helps to decrease swelling. (Under 12 weeks requires a referral.)
Hot stone massage
Hot stone massage promotes relaxation at its deepest level. The heat from the stones will help to melt the tension in your muscles.
Cold Stone therapy
Cold Stone therapy uses cold stones to treat headaches, sinus headaches and migraines.
Bamboo treatment
Bamboo treatment uses warm bamboo to penetrate deeply into the muscles, releasing tension and inducing a therapeutic state of relaxation and peace.
Foot scrub
Foot scrub rejuvenates fatigued and overworked feet using the benefits of essential oils.
Integrative reflexology
Integrative reflexology moves between both feet in a rhythm. The bottom of the feet are stimulated to create a calming effect throughout the body. This type of massage can also include the hands and ears.
Reiki
Reiki facilitates healing on all levels. A Japanese system of stress reduction and relaxation, Reiki includes guided relaxation, imagery and breath work.
Ashiatsu
Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique which uses deep compression and light strokes that glide over the body including controlled gravitational and centralized spiral movements. Helps to provide deep relaxation, creates structural change in chronic soft tissue damage, and stimulates the lymphatic system. Bars are used above the provider’s head for support and balance.
Acupuncture (York only)
Acupuncture uses sterilized, single-use needles which are placed in the body and then retained for up to 30 minutes. The therapy is virtually painless and is based on your body’s flow of life energy or qi (pronounced CHI). Acupuncture helps your body to stay in peak condition and maximizes your ability to heal and resist disease.
Community Acupuncture
Community acupuncture is a program where patients are seen in a confidential group setting. This cost-effective method treats a variety of conditions while the group dynamic allows for healing to occur.
Physicians
Wait times are the length of time between when a patient checks in and when the patient is taken to the treatment room.
The values shown are the median, or the middle number in the set of all the wait times collected for the previous 15 minutes.
Wait times can be influenced by many factors and should be considered estimates only.
Classes
Yoga rejuvenates your body and mind as you stretch, strengthen, balance and relax. Yoga is appropriate for beginning to intermediate students of yoga.
Alignment based yoga focuses on the precise way in which the body should be positioned in each pose in order to obtain
maximum benefits while avoiding injury. There is an equal emphasis on cultivating strength and flexibility while finding stability and freedom in each pose. This empowering practice asks you to tap into your core strength while opening your heart to the present moment. You move into, sustain and come out of poses in a mindful, intentional way, applying balanced action and linking movement to breath.
