Free
Maternity Center Tour

Take a free 30-minute tour of the labor & delivery and maternity facilities at Gettysburg Hospital. This tour is for adults only and is offered several times a month. To schedule a tour by itself, call (717) 337-4184.


$70 per couple
Prepared Childbirth Series

Stages of labor, comfort measures, relaxation and breathing techniques, labor interventions, cesarean delivery, anesthesia options and postpartum adjustments will all be covered. This series includes:
  • Four-week childbirth education class
  • Baby Care
  • Breastfeeding
  • Tour of Gettysburg Hospital Maternity Center


$60 per couple
Condensed Childbirth Class

This five-hour class provides information on the stages of labor, comfort measures, labor interventions, cesarean sections and anesthesia options. Relaxation and breathing techniques will be covered briefly, and participants will also take a tour of the Gettysburg Hospital Maternity Center. This class is offered one weekend a month, every other month.


$15 per couple
Refresher Class

We offer a variety of class options for "experienced" expectant mothers and their support people to brush up on all things pregnancy and labor related. Your refresher program can be customized to meet your specific learning needs. We will contact you upon your registration to help create your customized class plan.

Planned Cesarean Section Class

Designed for parents experiencing a planned cesarean, this class will cover information on pre-operative routine, anesthesia, operative procedure and recovery at the hospital and at home.


$40 per couple
Planned Cesarean Series

This series has been created to meet the needs of parents who will be experiencing a planned cesarean. It includes:
  • Planned Cesarean Class (description above)
  • Baby Care
  • Breastfeeding


$15 per child
Super Sibling 1

This one-hour class helps to prepare 3-7 year olds for the birth of a new sibling. Through the use of age appropriate stories and crafts, children will gain an understanding of what it means to be the big brother or sister. Children will make a small gift to give to "their" new baby. A tour of the Gettysburg Hospital Maternity Center that is geared toward the children’s learning needs will take place at the end of the class. Parents are required to stay for this class.

Super Sibling 2

This one-hour class uses age appropriate activities to help 8-12 year olds prepare for the birth of a sibling. The class will discuss feelings, safety and newborn characteristics. The children will also make a small gift to give to "their" new baby. A tour of the Gettysburg Hospital Maternity Center that is geared toward the children’s learning needs will take place at the end of the class. Parents are required to stay for this class.

Free
CPR for Family and Friends and First Aid for Children

Designed for the general public, this course includes adult, child and infant CPR and choking management. There is an optional First Aid for Children module which includes first aid training for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies. The class is approximately three and a half hours in length. The course is physically demanding. Please consult your physician prior to attending. A $10 reservation fee is required to hold your space, but will be refunded at the class. Breastfeeding

Learn the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby along with techniques and positions to help you prepare for a positive breastfeeding experience. This class is included in the Prepared Childbirth Series or can be taken individually.


$25 per couple
Baby Care

Learn the ins and outs of baby care including feeding, safe sleep, cord care and bathing. Participants will get hands-on experience in diapering and swaddling and learn about the day-to-day care of the newborn. Participants are asked to bring a stuffed animal/doll, diaper and blanket.

About the provider search

This search will provide you with WellSpan Medical Group and Northern Lancaster County (Ephrata) Medical Group primary care physicians and specialists. If we don’t have a WellSpan Medical Group physician to meet your criteria, the search will expand to include community physicians who partner with WellSpan Medical Group physicians through the WellSpan Provider Network or provide care to patients on the Medical Staffs of WellSpan’s Hospitals.
