Certified Nurse-Midwives at WellSpan provide women’s health care services for all stages of a woman’s life – including annual exams and screenings, family planning, contraception and perimenopause/menopause. As part of this entire lifecycle of women’s health care, we care for women during pregnancy who are interested in a more natural, self-directed approach to childbirth.
WellSpan Breastfeeding Services offers comprehensive care to support breastfeeding mothers and babies and help them achieve their goals on their journey. Our team of specially trained lactation experts includes nurses and nurse practitioners who are also internationally board-certified lactation consultants (IBCLCs).

WellSpan offers a wide variety of classes to help you and your family prepare for the birth of a new baby. We are committed to making our courses individualized to meet each person’s and family’s needs. We work with you to understand your needs and wants and try to personalize your experience at WellSpan as much as possible.
Support groups are available in York and Adams County for parents of NICU patients, women with PCOS and those who have experienced the loss of a baby or who choose to continue a pregnancy after a poor prenatal diagnosis.
Some WellSpan hospitals have received the Blue Distinction in Maternity Care from Blue Cross Blue Shield, which recognizes expertise and efficiency in maternity services. WellSpan is proud to participate in the Keystone 10 Initiative, a statewide breastfeeding quality program that aims to improve the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania moms and babies.
One of our urogynecologic surgeons was awarded a regional “Top Doctor” award in 2014 from Castle Connolly. Both of our urogynecologic surgeons have also received teaching awards from the residency program for excellence in teaching.
