Navigation and Support Services

The staff at each of WellSpan’s cancer centers is well equipped, by interest and training, to deal with the special needs and concerns of those living with cancer. All of our support services are provided at no charge to the patient.

Nurse Navigator

Our cancer centers can provide a nurse navigator to assist cancer patients. The nurse navigator works to coordinate patient care between the various practices and disciplines involved in the cancer patient's care as well as arranging needed consultations with social services, financial counselors and nutrition services. The nurse navigator also serves as a source of information for the patient and his/her family.

Information & Education

WellSpan maintains a complete library of pamphlets, books, and videotapes as a resource for cancer patients, as well as information about specialized health care providers in our region. We also sponsor frequent educational classes and events on the prevention and early detection of cancer.

Financial Counseling

Our financial counselors are available to assist any cancer patient and/or family with billing questions and insurance concerns.

Nutritional Counseling

Our oncology dietitians can offer practical tips for maintaining a healthy diet, which is an important factor in the effectiveness of therapy. Services include complete nutritional assessment, the development of strategies for maintaining sound nutritional health, and evaluating alternative nutritional therapies.

Psychosocial Support

Our nurses and social workers address the emotional burdens of the cancer patient and his/her family with sensitivity and skill. Through counseling, support groups, and professional referrals, they help patients and loved ones find the strength to face the future with courage. Our oncology-certified social workers provide practical assistance such as referrals for transportation, home health care, medical equipment, medication, financial/insurance assistance, and skilled nursing or hospice services. They also provide counseling related to how cancer affects lifestyle, emotions, self-image, sexuality, stress, and communication with family and friends.

Bereavement Services

Our trained, caring social workers can ease the impact of loss through a children's support group, a widows' support group, and special programs for grieving families. Click here for more information.  

Cancer Support Groups

WellSpan Health, through each cancer center, offers many helpful support groups and individual support services for cancer patients and their families. We invite you to join us. Please contact the cancer center appropriate for your area.

Cancer Patient Help Fund

Through the generosity of the communities it serves, WellSpan has created the York Cancer Patient Help Fund and the Adams County Cancer Patient Help Fund. The funds are available to cancer patients who are financially-challenged and provide assistance with living expenses such as food, and other essentials.  One hundred percent of contributions go toward helping local cancer patients and their families.

About the provider search

This search will provide you with WellSpan Medical Group and Northern Lancaster County (Ephrata) Medical Group primary care physicians and specialists. If we don’t have a WellSpan Medical Group physician to meet your criteria, the search will expand to include community physicians who partner with WellSpan Medical Group physicians through the WellSpan Provider Network or provide care to patients on the Medical Staffs of WellSpan’s Hospitals.

If you don't have a WellSpan primary care provider and would like to schedule a new patient appointment with a provider who is accepting patients, just log into your MyWellSpan account, and go to the Appointment Center section. As you progress through the scheduling process, you will be able to see the offices that are accepting new patients in relation to your zip code. If you are not enrolled in MyWellSpan, go to, call 1-866-638-1842 or speak with a member of the staff at a participating facility to sign up. New patient scheduling not available at all practices/programs.

Already a patient at this practice?

If you already have a relationship with a WellSpan practice, simply log into your account, and go to the Appointment Center section. As you progress through the scheduling process, you will be able to schedule an appointment with any provider or practice that already counts you as a patient. Online scheduling varies by practice/program.
