The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has ranked WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital as 4 Stars for Overall Hospital Quality. WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital has been accredited by DNV-GL since 2018. In addition, the hospital is certified by DNV for primary stroke.
Nationally Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
The Adams Cancer Center at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) by the American College of Surgeons. During the accreditation process the Adams Cancer Center demonstrated compliance with standards which focus on center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.
Keystone 10 Facility
WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is designated as a Keystone 10 facility, for implementing evidence-based maternity care practices to help improve breastfeeding care and rates, as well as improving the health of new mothers and babies. Keystone 10, administered by the Pa. Department of Health and the Pa. Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a quality improvement breastfeeding initiative that began in 2014. It is aimed at improving the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding for all Pennsylvania infants, mothers and families.
